Double Whammy

Or was it killing two birds with one stone?

For school lunch today I finally had NATTO which, I admit in all my time here I've never had a full serving of before. I did let one co-worker in on my secret that I'd never really eaten it before and she didn't hesitate to share this with the others who were sitting within earshot. Thankfully they didn't make a big deal out of it. The beans were small, as was the packet size, so I managed to consume all of it without bringing too much attention to myself -but it's hard not to get slimy, stringy goo all over.

So that in itself was enough of an ordeal for me today, however someone in the kitchen decided that Okonomiyaki laced with octopus would be a great accompaniment for natto. Normally I love okonomiyaki, but I can usually get it without octopus -which I don't love.

I finished everything on my tray and savored my 200ml of milk at the end to wash it all down.

If I have to get these two foods for lunch it's probably best that they serve them at the same time so I can be done with it, no sense ruining two lunches. Now all they have to do is serve surimi with it to get all the bad stuff over with at once. On second thought...

It's all about the milk! I ate elementary school lunches for two years, and in most cases it was the milk and rice that saved me.

School lunches - I hate them! Sometimes I managed to barter an extra carton of milk from students if I traded in my dried fish, but those occasions were all too rare.....

It must be little hard to get used to eat Natto. It is even hard for some Japanese people. Especially people from Osaka area, they do not have a custom of eating Natto.

I liked school lunches when I was elementary student. I think school lunches are well balanced and low costs (under 4,000yen for 20 meals).
This school lunch system has purpose to correct Kid's like and dislikes about food.
